IT Network and Communications Manager

Requirements:
*BS Computer Science, or related
*6+ of related experience
*ITILv3 Certifications, or CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent required
*Strong Understanding of WAN Compression and Optimization Technologies
*Budgeting and Forecasting Financial Needs to Achieve Objectives with a Budget of $2MM+
*Track Record of Mentoring and Coaching Staff



Responsibilities for this position include:
-Leads and directs team members (including third party providers) dedicated to delivering run, maintain, support, administer, and maintenance activities and plans across the networks and voice environments, availability, and capacity health checks, troubleshooting, virtual diagnoses of malfunctions, and incident resolution of tickets assigned to the Networks and Telecommunication Operations team (including resolving severe incidents). Accountable for staff to resolve incident escalations relating to technical issues within the production environment effecting the end user community and establishing workarounds as needed before a permanent fix can be implemented. Accountable for staff to monitor and action alerts (and alert trends) for preventative and proactive measures prior to end user service interruptions. Ensures Operational Excellence of all team members applying a variety of principles, systems, and tools for sustainable and Continuous Service Improvement by tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and applying any needed corrective actions with service and support of the production network and voice landscapes.



-Ensures ownership and resourcing (including third party providers) to support Best in Class levels of service, performance, and maintenance activities for all network and voice production systems, including forward planning of all change management activities using best practices, approved outage windows, etc. with a minimal amount of downtime to the end user. Accountable for agreeing all releases, as partnered with change management windows, into the production environment that may impact service across the network and voice landscapes. Ensures dedicated problem management focus for resolutions of ongoing, underlying, and/or long term network and voice issues across the enterprise that might cause severe incidents, multiple incidents, or have the potential to cause end user service interruption. Ensures development of operational checklists for typical problems, and recommends procedures and controls for problem prevention. Ensures root cause analysis and lessons learned documentation is performed to minimize potential incidents from reoccurring.



-Accountable for all operating yearly budgets, monthly forecasts, and total cost of ownership models of network and voice services, to support the best practice levels of service availability toward the end user. And recommends best use of capital investments for the next project year cycle, including any needed life-cycle replacements or upgrades. Reviews and approves capacity plans for forecasting and adding network bandwidth, taking into account long term cost implications. Reviews and approves new projects that have integrations or traffic needs that may impact or effect current network bandwidth levels or Class of Service or budgets.

-Manages staff, consultants, and contractors on network and voice related activities, ensuring priorities are clear and tasks are understood, assigned, and tracked to completion. Hires, develops, evaluates, and makes authoritative recommendations in employee performance. Mentors and coaches junior staff members, and ensures their continued training on technologies and tools.
